Upcycling! And loving it!

I love materials, textiles and remnants and I love thinking outside the nine dots. Now we all know that the summer has been non existent. The sun has not been shining  here in Devon. In fact I have been fairly much wearing jeans and jumpers. Well of course the upside of that is that the shops are dying to get rid of their sunshiney stock. Added to this the demise of the Peacocks chain has been in the news. So when out wandering,as you do, this dress caught my eye and the price certainly hit the high notes --- £5. Now the clever move when faced with this situation is to buy the biggest size available. You are not going to wear it and every centimetre of material is a bonus. So a size 22 was just perfect!
And look what I Upcycled with this little bargain!

First some pretty shoes bags. In a large size for popping special shoes in when travelling.

And a smaller size for make-up,medicines or just those bit and pieces.

Such pretty material with little sequins for added sparkle.

Of course the challenge with this upcycling challenge is to use every scrap and I love little bits of material and set to with my favourite shape. Hearts.

Lots and lots. Finished with some lavender flowers from the garden. a pretty piece of ribbon and a heart shaped button. Just perfect.

I have popped some on some nice wooden coathangers and the wardrobe is smelling lovely.

I really enjoyed this little bit of upcycling. And "The Sporty One" saw an even better challenge yesterday. I will bog about upcycling Take 2 soon.

  4. Hi Linda,

I came to say thank you for the comment you left on my blog and then notice that you live in Newton Abbot. I was there over the weekend visiting friends! While I was there I went into Spin-A-Yarn in Bovey Tracey and treated myself to some goodies. I'm sure you'll know the place.

When my little treasures are back at school and I have more time I will definitely be checking out more of your tutorials, your makes are beautiful, I especially like the alternative granny square.

  10. If your tween is into paint-ball you can take everyone to play
paint-ball. The game was released on August 3, and is in stores now, but probably is where it
will remain, sad to say. You Divide everyone at the party into two groups,
    or tribes.

  12. In looking for the proper collar for the pets, things that you need
to consider are safety, the training process as well as your convenience.
The truth is this isn't aversion education. With the Easy Walk Harness, if your dog attempts to pull forward the straps across the chest and shoulder blades begin to tighten.

  13. To get the best product type never make your choice with first product or store you see,
but you should check several fishing kayaks for sale and try to get appropriate offer.

Some fishermen just take a rod and a few lures along and others
like to bring lots of gear along. Kayaks can also be classified as
ocean kayaks, Hobie kayaks, river kayaks, and tandem kayaks.
